Service | Clinical Genotyping
Clinical genotyping is one of Epidauros´ key specialisms as a leading Pharmacogenetic Research Organization (PRO). Epidauros performs high quality sequencing, TaqMan® allelic discrimination and real-time assays, fragment analysis of PCR amplified DNA and TaqMan based Allelic Copy Number Assays to determine the respective genotype of any given sample.
With a portfolio of more than 1,100 validated assays, all conducted in a GLP-guided environment, Epidauros covers almost all pharmacogenetically relevant genes and polymorphisms and offers one of the most comprehensive portfolios of pharmacogenetic assays in the industry. Moreover, more than 100 novel assays are developed each year in Epidauros’ laboratories. On demand, novel assays can be developed and validated within four weeks. All assay developments are guided by a rigorous development process as part of our Quality Management System and result in a method-SOP.
Epidauros’ assay portfolio covers assays for the following groups of genes:
- Phase I Drug Metabolizing Enzymes (e.g. CYPs, ADHs, EPHs, …)
- Phase II Drug Metabolizing Enzymes (e.g. NATs, UGTs, SULTs, GSTs, …)
- Drug transport proteins (e.g. ABC transporters, drug uptake transporters, …)
- Receptors (e.g. ADRB2, CAR, hPXR, …)
- Others
Epidauros has developed a specific methodology for allelic copy number assays termed AlCoNA®, to determine the gene dose (duplicated or deleted genes) per genome. This assay technology is universally applicable, even for complex genes, and may be suitable to develop selective and sensitive assays for cancer genes. In specific cases, Epidauros was able to show that the multiplication of different alleles could be discriminated, e.g. for CYP2D6*1, *2, *4.
Array-based platforms will shortly be implemented and will enrich Epidauros’ portfolio of cost-efficient solutions, whilst providing the highest possible quality.
