Epidauros has a strong management team with many years of practical experience in the biotech industry. All aspects of Business Development, Lab Operations, Quality Management, Strategic Development & Licensing and Finance are covered by seasoned personnel.
Dr. Michael Lutz was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Epidauros in April 2006. Michael brings to Epidauros a broad experience in the fields of biotech and pharma industry from working with several industry-leading companies in senior management positions. In these roles Michael primarily focused on the commercial and strategic aspects of drug discovery and development.
Most recently, he was Chief Executive Officer at SuNyx GmbH, where he managed the successful sale of the Bioanalytics Business to QIAGEN. Before that he worked at Evotec AG, reaching the position of Chief Business Officer in their Discovery Programs Division. In addition, Michael worked with Novartis Pharma AG, as an integral part of the company’s Global Marketing and Strategic Planning.
Michael studied chemistry and biochemistry at the Universities of Konstanz (Germany) and Grenoble (France). He holds a Ph.D. degree in Bio-organic chemistry from the ETH Zürich (Switzerland).
Dr. Karl Kleine joined the Bioinformatics department of Epidauros in 1999 and currently holds the position of Vice President Quality Management.
Before joining Epidauros, Karl held a staff position in the Department of Genetics at the Novartis Research Institute in Vienna, Austria. As a research associate at the Martinsrieder Institut für Proteine (MIPS) in Munich (Martinsried), Germany, he was responsible for the bioinformatics coordination of the European Yeast Genome Sequencing Project.
Karl received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the Max-Planck-Institute for Biochemistry in Munich (Martinsried), Germany.
Dr. Katrin Granderath joined Epidauros as Group Leader in 2001 and was subsequently promoted to her current position as Senior Director of Genotyping Service, where she oversees all lab operations.
Katrin studied biology at the Georg-August-University in Göttingen, Germany. She gained her Ph.D. from the Institute of Microbiology, at the Georg-August-University Göttingen in 1993. Prior to joining Epidauros, Dr. Granderath held several positions at MWG Biotech, with her last position being Head of the Custom Sequencing Laboratory.
Dr. Elke Roschmann joined the Business Development & Marketing team at Epidauros in 2005. Since July 2007 she has headed up the Strategic Development & Licensing group, where she is primarily responsible for leading Epidauros’ strategy of developing diagnostic tests based on the company’s own patent portfolio.
Elke was formerly Program Director at IntegraGen (Evry, France), a Personalized Medicine company, developing diagnostic tests for metabolic and psychiatric disorders. Before that she worked for several years on the development of new technologies for genome analysis in R&D at Amersham Pharmacia Biotech (Amersham, UK).
Elke received her doctoral degree in Molecular Genetics from the Department of Gastroenterology, at the Albert Ludwigs University Freiburg (Germany). She also conducted research on the isolation and characterisation of novel p53 induced genes, as a Post Doctoral Student at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in London (UK).
Michael Minas supports the Epidauros´ team as Director Finance. He has held this role since March 2007.
Michael has more than 14 years of professional experience, gained from key positions in the Finance & Administration of international production companies, service providers and financial auditing. He also worked in IT and Biotech companies where he successfully reorganized Finance & Administration areas after IPO and merger situations.
Michael graduated as a Dipl. Betriebswirt from the Fachhochschule Trier (Germany) after partaking in the International European Business Study Program. He also holds a Master of Arts in International Business Analysis from the University of Leicester (UK).
