Epidauros partner of Boehringer Ingelheim in multicenter trial
Epidauros provides high quality genetic testing in a multicenter clinical trial for Boehringer Ingelheim
Bernried, Germany - October 30, 2006 - Epidauros Biotechnologie AG, a leading provider of pharmacogenetic solutions located in Bernried near Munich, announces today that Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG has selected Epidauros as provider for genetic testing in a multicenter clinical trial. The objective of the collaboration is to apply Epidauros´ recently introduced high quality and cost-efficient routine process for genetic testing (genotyping) using buccal swabs in a multicenter clinical trial where a pharmacogenetic biomarker is analyzed as a main inclusion criterion for enrollment of patients into the clinical trial.
During the clinical trial, about 2500 patients recruited at more than 80 sites among 13 countries will be tested for a predefined pharmacogenetic profile used as inclusion criterion. In addition, to its excellent high quality genotyping services, Epidauros supports Boehringer Ingelheim by organizing the logistics of recruitment, labeling and shipment of samples and the data transfer to the single study sites. Epidauros further supports Boehringer Ingelheim by helping to provide training to all clinical investigators and research monitors involved at the various trial centers.
